Gabriel Josipovici, born in Nice in 1940 to Russo-Italian and Romano-Levantine parents, spent his formative years in Egypt before moving to Britain in 1956. He graduated with a First in English from St Edmund Hall, Oxford, in 1961, and taught at the University of Sussex from 1963 until 1998. A prolific writer, Josipovici has authored seventeen novels, three collections of short stories, eight critical essays, and numerous stage and radio plays, contributing regularly to the Times Literary Supplement. His works have been performed across Britain and broadcast in France and Germany, and they have been translated into several major European languages and Arabic. In 2001, he published "A Life," a biographical memoir of his mother, translator and poet Sacha Rabinovitch. His recent publications include "Two Novels: 'After' and 'Making Mistakes,'" "What Ever Happened to Modernism?" "Heart's Wings," and "Infinity."
